Scotty Pippen gave a surprising revelation about his “sour” relationship with important Chicago Bulls members.
In the 1990s, teams like the Chicago Bulls didn’t dominate. The organization has won six NBA championships led by anyone except Michael Jordan.
With the exception of MJ, things like Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman and Steve Kerr played a key role in winning six NBA titles.
The mastermind behind the Bulls dynasty was legendary head coach Phil Jackson. Jackson had a great relationship with Jordan, but Pippen once gave a shocking revelation about his bond with the Zen Master.
There is no doubt that Pippen was an integral part of the Bulls dynasty. However, it is also true that Pippen was not treated fairly by the bull.
After all, the player in his caliber deserved over $22.2 million over 11 years with the Bulls in his first run. Pippen has been extremely vocal about his poor relationship with Jordan since his retirement.
However, the 6x NBA champions once shed light on their “sour” bond with Jackson.
“It doesn’t really matter to us. I haven’t spoken with Phil since the day of play. I think we were competing with the Lakers on the West Coast in the early 2000s,” Pippen said via the Hotsauce podcast.
Bulls legend believes that he joins the Blazers on the Portland Trail and fights Jackson’s La Lakers is the key reason behind burning the bridge.
“It got a little sour there. It was a bit more competitive with Portland and the Lakers.”
Despite playing nine seasons under Jackson and winning six NBA championships in the process, Pippen revealed that he had no strong bond with the legendary head coach.
“My relationship with Phil has never been strong. I respect his coaching. He was excellent at what he did. But he’s just a different type of guy,” Pippen said.
In a way, it shows the level of professionalism between Pippen and Jackson. After all, they did not allow their differences to get during the Bull Dynasty.
If that had happened, the Bulls might not have been as successful as they had in the 1990s.
