Chelsea will be busy this summer and the needs Enzo Maresca have are meant to add more experience to his team. But nonetheless, one of the greatest midfielders in the Premier League doesn’t seem to work very well for the finalists in the upcoming transfer window.
Chelsea have a very young team and their lack of experience is sometimes shown throughout the season. This is why Maresca hopes to add older players to his team to create more balance, and one player on the radar was Kevin De Bruney.
De Bruyne was sold to Bundesliga’s Wolfsberg after a special contract with Chelsea from 2012 to 2014, before being sold to Bundesliga’s side, before being signed by Man City 18 months later. The rest is history. But now that he has left the Premier League champions, he has been able to settle into West London life.
Chelsea cool interest in the cool Kevin de Bruin return
However, that’s not a realistic option as the Telegraph reports that Chelsea is unlikely to make a de Bruin move. Note that the arrival in Belgium will cause problems when Maresca tries to align him and Cole Palmer with the same team.
Chelsea will try to add more experience in the summer, but the club’s boss is said to be aiming for the moves of players who are a little younger but have quite a few matches. Jarrad Branthwaite and Marc Guehi are mentioned as players falling into this category as options to improve the central defensive options Maresca has at their disposal.
It is still unknown where De Bruyne is now in summer. It’s possible to stay in the Premier League, but he’s unlikely to do that at Chelsea.
