Los Angeles catcher Will Smith had a positive day on Monday, facing live pitching for the first time since September 9th.
If Smith doesn’t suffer from set-offs on Tuesday, it sounds like he has a real chance to create a wildcard roster for the .
“If he gets through today and feels good, that’s a viable idea,” manager Dave Roberts said Smith is making the roster.
In other news, the revealed the expected status of the 23-year-old right-handed right-handed Lokisaki’s wildcard series. The young pitcher missed more than four months due to a shoulder injury, and has been pitched in a total of two innings since returning earlier this month.
Additionally, the All-Star third base hand Max Mancy provided an injury update before the wildcard round. The Slugger missed the team’s final four regular-season games.
Finally, Sasaki is not the only who has no solidified role heading into the postseason, as manager Dave Roberts makes some decisions to some other members of his team. Emmett Sheehan is one of those players who can see a different role than he has experienced during the regular season, and future Hall of Fame Clayton Kershaw will not be on the wildcard roster.
