Nottingham Forest are currently eyeing the £87m striker, who has already scored eight goals this season, with Evangelos Marinakis apparently keen to make a statement.
Forest eyeing new striker despite Dyche and Chris Wood reunion
It is well known that Sean Dyche is a fan of Chris Wood, having enjoyed a successful spell with the New Zealander at Burnley, but Forest’s new manager appeared disappointed when the striker left Turf Moor in 2022.
Mr. Daish said: “It wasn’t a perfect scenario to lose a player who performed very well for us and for himself. He’s a good player. This season has been quiet, but you look at our record and you look at what he’s accomplished as an individual.”
The former Burnley manager will be thrilled at the prospect of working with Wood again. The striker has been very impressive throughout the 2024-25 season, considering Tricky Trees scored 20 of his 36 Premier League goals in qualifying for Europe.
But given the New Zealand international is now 33 years old, it’s probably time to start thinking about a long-term replacement, and Marinakis clearly means business, with the Europa League side setting their sights on an exciting young striker.
This comes as Caught Offside reports that Nottingham Forest are currently eyeing a move for FC Porto star Sam Omorodion, who has also attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Newcastle United.
Indeed, Omorodion has attracted the attention of a number of England’s top clubs, but Porto are unlikely to compromise on the €100m (approximately £87m) release clause in his contract and are likely to demand a huge transfer fee.
Forest have sent scouts to watch the 21-year-old on a number of occasions in recent weeks and there are every signs that he could be a great addition to Dyche’s squad…
‘Powerhouse’ Omolodion signs Forest’s statement
It has been far from the ideal start to the season for Tricky Trees, who could end up in a relegation battle unless there is a significant turnaround in results, so signing the Porto striker would be a real statement of intent.
Scout Ben Mattinson waxed lyrical about his main attributes just under a year ago, suggesting the Spain international had the potential to play at the highest level.
Since then, the young Spaniard has continued to impress, scoring eight goals in his opening ten games for Porto this season.
Omorodion could have the ability to take Forest’s attack to the next level, so it’s exciting news that they are in the race to sign him, but unless Dyche’s side start improving their league standings, it may be difficult to get a deal done.
