Liverpool collided with a 3-2 defeat from home against Fulham earlier today, with Mohamed Sarah being criticized for his performance against the London Club.
The 32-year-old is Liverpool’s best player this season, and he’s in world class shape. However, he has looked like a shadow of his former self for the past few weeks, and he has not been able to hit the top shape.
Egyptian International produced another unfortunate exhibit for Fulham, who failed to create goalscoring opportunities for teammates or find the back of the net.
Former Ireland Republic striker Clinton Morrison denounced the Liverpool star on BBC Radio 5 Live during the game, labeling him as non-existent.
Morrison pointed out that Sarah was marked completely from the game by Calvin Bassy, and the Fulham star was too strong for the Egyptians.
He said: “Calvin Bassy cannot handle Moe Sarah and Sarah. He was too strong to reach him and not present.
Sarah is fully aware of the fact that he is not nearing his normal level and will be eager to bounce back hard in the coming weeks. Liverpool is still a favorite to win a league title, but it cannot be shaken up at the end of the season. Something like Arsenal wants to fill the gap, and it’s still unclear how things will develop.
At some point this season, Sarah was leaning as a potential Ballon d’Or or winner, but his performance over the last few weeks will certainly undermine his chances significantly. It will be interesting to see if the Egyptians can return to his best and see if Liverpool can win a league title in the coming weeks.
