Newcastle United are interested in signing Girona midfielder Jangel Herrera at the end of the season.
The 27-year-old has done very well at the LA La Liga club, and he is attracting the attention of Nottingham Forest.
According to a report by Fichajes, the two Premier League clubs are keen on the players, and Newcastle has already taken the first steps to close the deal.
Served at La Liga Star table
The report claims there is an offer at the table from Newcastle, and they are willing to splash 25 million euros on the midfielder. It will be interesting to see if Girona is ready to sanction his departure.
The Venezuelan midfielder shows his quality in Spain, and he has the physicality and technical attributes to make it work in the Premier League as well. Newcastle can use another combat midfielder in the middle of the park, helping the 27-year-old to tighten defensively. He has previously been described as a “tactically intelligent” player by Patrick Vieira.
Yangel Herrera could be a temptation to join Newcastle
The opportunity to move to Newcastle could be exciting for the former Manchester City player. It was a big step in his career and he would compete in the Premier League. Newcastle has an ambitious project and could play in the Champions League next season. They have already managed to win the domestic Cup this year and are looking to compete for a big trophy in the future. Venezuelans can be attracted to the idea of taking part in their projects.
He was linked to clubs like West Ham United a few years ago.
Nottingham Forest is also looking for Champions League qualifiers, so it will be interesting to see if he can finish in the top four. They could use more quality in the middle, and the La Liga star would be an ideal acquisition. However, it is fair to assume that Newcastle could be a more attractive destination for players, as its financial resources and talent are at its disposal.
