Liverpool aim to strengthen their defense with the signing of Ecuadorian defender Joel Ordonez from Club Brugge.
The 21-year-old central defender has performed very well for the Belgian club and Liverpool see Ordonez as an option to strengthen their defence.
They looked vulnerable in the back season, but will also need to replace Ibrahima Konate at the end of the season. The France international will soon become a free agent and Liverpool will need to start planning for life without him.
Liverpool could use Joel Ordonez
The 21-year-old Ecuadorian international could be a great addition. He has proven himself in Belgium and has performed very well at international level in his home country. Ordonez has been hailed as an “outstanding player” in the past. He is also rumored to be linked to Chelsea.
He has the physical and technical characteristics to suit English football and Liverpool are prepared to spend big for him. Boravip reports that Liverpool are willing to pay around 40 million euros for the defender. They are willing to offer him a huge salary of over 3 million euros per season.
Ordonez may want to move to Liverpool
The defender will be attracted to the idea of joining the Premier League champions. It will be a big opportunity for him and he will want to prove himself in England. For players, the amount on offer is also very attractive. It remains to be seen whether his club will accept the 40 million euro offer that has been put forward.
Liverpool should aim to conclude a deal in January. They have been in dismal form in recent weeks and will be looking to get their season back on track. Signing the right players in January could help them bounce back strongly.
