Former Honda Factory Team title sponsor Repsol will return to the MotoGP paddock in 2026 in a new role as Moto2 and Moto3 lubricant supplier.
The Spanish oil giant became the title partner of Honda’s factory team in 1995, starting one of motorsport’s most enduring and iconic relationships.
As Repsol Honda, the Japanese brand has won four world titles with Mick Doohan, six with Marc Marquez, two with Valentino Rossi, and one each with Alex Cribill, Nicky Hayden and Casey Stoner.
The relationship will end in 2024 following Marquez’s departure from HRC in 2023, with Honda now a factory team backed by Castrol.
Repsol will take over as sole lubricant supplier for the Moto2 and Moto3 classes from Liqui Moly, with the latter originally having a contract until 2027.
Next year, Repsol branding will be featured on all Moto2 and Moto3 bikes, as well as prominently displayed trackside.
“MotoGP fans already know Repsol for its reputation for excellence and success in the sport, so we’re proud to have Repsol back,” said Dorna CCO Dan Rossomondo.
“As a Moto2 and Moto3 lubricant supplier, we know that riders and teams are provided with the highest quality technology, so it’s great news for the brand to be the title sponsor of the Grand Prix and put its name on the trackside.
“As MotoGP continues its impressive growth trajectory, there is no better time than now to welcome Repsol as an official partner and write a new chapter together.”
It is not clear which Grand Prix will be supported by Repsol in 2026.
Liqui Moly currently has a title sponsorship agreement for the German Grand Prix.
Repsol’s move comes as new owner Liberty Media seeks to increase the value of MotoGP to new investors.
Although this focuses primarily on the premier class, it’s still an encouraging step for the series.
As part of its return to the Grand Prix paddock, Repsol will also deliver new competition products to be tested on the track next season.
