Los Angeles left-handed pitcher Clayton Kershaw will make the first start of the season with the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday, Dave Roberts told reporters Tuesday.

Kershaw underwent two surgeries in November to repair his left meniscus and bone spurs on his left toe. A toe injury ended the 2024 season early on in the Car Show, keeping him on the sidelines through the ‘ World Series run.
Saturday’s start will be the first of the Car Show against the Arizona Diamondbacks since August 30, 2024. The left-hander pitched one inning before going to IL.
Through recovery from double surgery, Kershaw completed five rehabilitation assignments at three different minor league levels. The three Cy Young Award winners recorded 2.57 strikeouts and five walks, allowing 12 hits in 21 innings, six runs and three home runs.
This is the second consecutive season of the Car Show, starting with an injured list. Before suffering a toe injury in August, the 37-year-old underwent left shoulder surgery in November 2023 to secure adhesive ligaments and capsules to his throwing arm.
As a result of shoulder surgery, Kershaw began the 2024 season with IL. His combination of shoulder surgery and maintenance of toe injuries limited the Southpaw to seven starts in 2024.
Kershaw, who is in his 18th season with the , signed a one-year contract in February as a free agent for the franchise. His $7.5 million contract includes a bonus.
The 10 All-Star return to rotation is at a perfect time with an influx of pitching injuries from the . Los Angeles recently placed right-handed starting pitcher roki Sasaki on his 15-day injury list with painful right arm on Tuesday.
Sasaki’s injury left the with four healthy starting pitchers. Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Dustin May, Landon Knack and Tony Gonsolin are four who continue to operate on the roster.
