Former England captain Michael Vaughn feels that CSK doesn’t have a strong, offensive batting lineup like the rest of the ongoing Indian Premier League teams. Vaughn issued a statement to RCB after a brutal defeat by CSK in the second match of the season.
The Chennai Super Kings have miserably failed to chase the mark on nearly 200 times as they are royal challengers as Bengaluru banged them. Michael Vaughn compared CSK to some of the other aspects and explained how they lack the ability to score a large sum.
He shed light on the Yellow Army’s middle order and explained how he struggles to score big points with good batting wickets in upcoming matches in the tournament. In both games played so far, the Super Kings batting struggles at some point.

He has won Michael Vaughn’s dull CSK batting lineup
While talking about Clickbuzz, Michael Vaughn explained how teams like the Punjab Kings and RCB have a strong batting lineup, as opposed to CSK, where it’s not good to get big totals on the board.
“Looking at some of the strong aspects of IPL this year, as Punjab looks strong, there is depth to the RCB. We actually see Chennai.
“(deepak) Hooder is not in great form. Sam Curran lacks gallops in the middle, Duve hit that first six, but then 15 off, he’s not in great form again,” the former England batsman added.
Michael Vaughn may be batting for CSK
Speaking further in the same conversation, Michael Vaughn labeled CSK’s batting lineup as an older generation lineup. He claimed they could win 150-170, but would struggle to score a big total with good batting wickets later in the tournament.
“They look like an old T20 game, a 150 game lineup. They look like a 150-170 batting lineup. If the wicket is a bit dusty or groovy, they have the opportunity to chase the total,” Vaughn pointed out.
“When you get closer to being over 197, you don’t think you have the power that some of the other teams have,” he thought.
CSK has solid top orders, but the middle order hasn’t shown enough promises for tournaments so far. Deepak Hooda looks down on the shape while Shivam Dube also failed in both games.
Apart from them, Rahul Tripathi failed in both games as well. Rachin Ravindra has shown promises in both matches and along with him, along with Ruturaj Gaikwad, will be key to the team in the upcoming games.
CSK’s upset batting lineup
In the first match, CSK chased the final 156 and defeated the Mumbai Indians. The victory was not straight as they had to fight their paths and reached their goals in the final of the match.
In the second game against RCB, Chennai struggled from the start during the run chase. The RCB picked up the early wickets and did not allow CSK to advance in the game. In the end, RCB won the match by 50 runs, handing CSK the biggest loss at home.
