Olympic champion Gable Steveson doesn’t have his world-class wrestling as a weapon when he goes to dirty boxing.
On Wednesday, the promotion announced that Steveson is scheduled to clash with Billy Swanson during the main event of Dirty Boxing 4, scheduled for October 30th in Nashville, Tennessee.
Steveson, the youngest American to win an Olympic gold medal in wrestling when he won the 2020 Tokyo Games, recently made his successful MMA debut. At LFA 217, it took less than two minutes for Steveson to send Brady Peterson.
The 25-year-old was cornered for the fight by former two-division UFC champion John Jones, who became a best friend and mentor to the University of Minnesota wrestling genius. Technically, Steveson is fighting for Jones as UFC legends became part of dirty boxing ownership after the company was founded by UFC veterans and current BKFC superstar Mike Perry.
The competition in dirty boxing could be a one-off deal as Steveson believes he’s destined to make waves in the UFC sooner or later.
As for Swanson, he is a PFL and Bellator veteran who recently competed in BKFC when he was recently hit by a TKO defeat to Bear Hill at a promotional event held in South Dakota in August. Swanson is full of his hands with Steveson, widely regarded as one of the best prospects to join MMA’s sports.
Steveson doesn’t completely complement the weapon this time, but because dirty boxing uses a different set of rules than traditional MMA.
The fight will go down from Nashville on October 30th.
