Gable Steveson’s Mixed Martial Arts debut is officially set.
On Tuesday, the LFA announced that the University of Minnesota’s outstanding wrestling phenom is scheduled to make its fighting debut at LFA 217 on Friday, September 12th from the Mystic Lake Casino Hotel in Fore Lake, Minnesota.
The event will stream live on UFC Fight Pass.
Steveson is set to face Braden Peterson, his second professional appearance. The 2020 Olympic gold medalist finally wrestled with MMA gloves after a well-known college wrestling career that included two national championships, two Dan Hodge Trophy victory and five national nods. Steveson was recently part of the WWE Developmental System before its release in May 2024.
After the wrestling season ended, Steveson began working with his syndicated MMA coaches to focus on combat training, including stops in Las Vegas. Also, UFC legend John Jones counted one of his mentors after helping him prepare for a fight with Steep Myosic.
With some impressive wins, it appears that Steveson will likely jump to the UFC.
Peterson is about to play spoilers with the sophomore professional appearance. In his professional debut, “Bloodaxe” won a 14-second TKO victory for Chris Thompson for his recursive promotion, the Fusion Fight League in Montana.
The LFA was one of the top developmental promotions in the world, sending numerous fighter jets to the UFC or other major MMA promotions. Recently, LFA Women’s Bantamweight Champion Bia Mesquita has signed the UFC and will make her debut at UFC Rio on October 11th.
