This appears to confirm a report from Daily’s Casey Porter that the team is calling outfielder Justin Dean ahead of the opener against the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday.
Lewis, 26, was bought by the through trade with track and field earlier this season. He appeared in a total of 19 games at the Major League level in LA, hitting .190 (4-23) with .594 on one home run, two RBIs and OPS. He added four stolen bases.
Lewis is now back in Triple A and will likely be replaced by another quick outfielder from Justin Dean.
Dean, 28, has yet to make his MLB debut after being drafted in the 17th round of the 2018 MLB draft. After spending his entire professional career with the Atlanta Braves organization, Dean joined the this December on a minor league contract.
