Oscar Piastri revealed that he spoke to the FIA after a controversial penalty at the British Grand Prix.

Piastri was given a 10-second penalty for driving dangerously under a Silverstone safety car.

Australia was actively braked in wet at the end of the Safety Car Phase.

The steward felt that Piastri was burned with too much force and hit him with a huge penalty.

Steward’s decision ultimately led to Piastri’s victory, giving Randnoris the first victory in Silverstone’s hometown.

Prior to the Belgian Grand Prix, Piastri admitted that “there was a lot of learning on both sides,” but he now moved on.

“Yeah, I obviously looked it up with the team afterwards. I think there was a lot of learning on both sides,” he said.

“I think I still have my own feelings about it, but it was in the past and I have moved forward.

“For me, it was a previously done by myself in some cases, but in the past, other drivers have been done in the same way.

“Obviously, if it needs to be punished now, it’s fine, I know that for the future. Right after the race, I was frustrated.”

Piastri also confirmed that he and McLaren had spoken to the FIA.

He admitted that he would not put much force on the brakes next time.

“We discussed with the FIA. I think we were learning from both sides about how the situation is handled differently, like I said,” he added.

“For me, I won’t brake that hard the next time. That’s easy. I think the threshold is a bit clearer now, too, as to where it is.

Piastri Ice Spa victory

Oscar Piastri will be desperate to stop Norris’ momentum with his recent race.

Norris won the final two races, reducing Piastri’s lead to eight points at the top of the rankings.

Looking forward to this weekend at Spa Franco Champs, he said:

“There are lots of corners that are unique to the spa, and the woods setting, track length, layout, and some of the iconic corners you can’t find anywhere else, that’s what I love.

“It’s an overall very challenging layout, with lots of straights and very technical sections of sector 2 for overtaking. It’s always been a track I really enjoyed.”
