It was a heartbreaking night for Pinblett, a paddy field in London.
Ribaptolian didn’t step into the Octagon, but his “sister” Molly McCann wanted to return to the victory column following a unanimous defeat to Bruna Brazil in July. Unfortunately, that’s not the case.
Squared with Brazilian rookie Alexia Seinara, McCann was quickly placed on his back and submitted in the final 30 seconds of the opening round via a later naked choke.
Molly McCann, who lost four of her last five, decided it was time to throw away her gloves and leave the sport. In a postwar interview with Michael Bispin, “Meatball” gave an emotional speech that shed tears from everyone, including Pinblett.
In the UFC London crowd, Pinblett was visibly and emotionally discovered during McCann’s retirement speech.
Pimblett then took him to Instagram to share his sincere reaction to McCann’s retirement.
“It was a heartbreaking night to see my sister retire last night,” Pinblett wrote. “I’ve been with her from the beginning and I’ve always been there. This may be the end of her fighting career, but it’s far from my end and her friendship. It’s up to a part of us. British MMA women legend, first British women to win the UFC, one of the best knockouts in the history of female UFC and combat sports.
“Her legacy will live on forever. The emotional words aren’t even from last night, but even when I was crying, Meatball never makes me laugh when he said, “I wasn’t doing anything bad to Lesbo, who worked on the subway.” I love @meatballmolly and will always do that, I’m a big sis. ”
Paddy Pimblett and Molly McCann felt like UFC overnight
Pinblett and McCann became authentic stars in March 2022 with their fight night cards in London. “Meatballs” competed against each other and won a viral spinback elbow knockout from Luana Carolina. After two fights, “Buddy” suffocated Rodrigo Vargas, earning his second consecutive first round submission victory within the Octagon.
It’s sad that we’ll never see the dynamic duo compete together again on the same card, but there’s no doubt that Pimblett and McCann will be the mainstays of UFC events (in one way) for the next few years.
Pinblet will return to activity on Saturday, April 12th, when he met former Bellator champion “Iron” Michael Chandler in the UFC 314 co-main event in Miami.
