Patchy Mix is finally a UFC fighter.
The former Bellator Bantamweight champion, who was almost universally recognized as a top 135-pound fighter outside of the promotion, found a new combat home in the UFC after securing a release from the PFL last week.
He won’t have to wait for him to debut in a mix that will clash with Mario Bautista on the UFC 315 card on June 7th from Newark, New Jersey.
The announcement came during the UFC Vegas 106 broadcast on Saturday.
The mix appears in the UFC, with a notable 20-1 record, including 15 finishes along the way. During his run with Bellator, Mix took out fighter jets such as Horiguchi, Magomed Magomedov, Sergio Pettis and Raufeon Stots.
He is currently on a seven-game winning streak. This included winning the Bellator Bantamweight title and successfully defending his recent outing.
Mix complained about his long stretch inactivity in the PFL, and he ultimately called for his release. PFL ultimately complied after the promotion issued a statement that he would not extend the mix contract and that he could freely sign with another organization.
It was clear that it didn’t take long for the Mix to make a deal to come to the UFC, and he quickly dived into a marquee fight with Bautista after his former opponent, Marlon “Chito” Bella, was kicked out of the card due to injuries.
Bautista won seven battles, including a split decision over Jose Aldo.
The upcoming UFC 316 cards are headlined by a pair of title fights as bantamweight king Merab Dvalishvili faces Sean O’Malley and Julianna Pena grabs the bantamweight strap for grabs against two-time Olympic gold medalist Kayla Harrison.
