Skip Bayless made an embarrassing mistake in the first quarter of Game 7 between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Denver Nuggets.
The Thunder was a heavy favorite to win the series after wiping out the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round of the Western Conference.
However, the Nuggets, who played seven games against the Los Angeles Clippers, came together hard to extend the matchup as long as possible.
And they looked like an upset OKC after an excellent first quarter that scared Bayless and many other Thunder fans.
The Nuggets started a much stronger game 7 than the Thunder, who won 26-21 in the first quarter, and Bayless was extremely disappointed.
“This is very pathetic,” he tweeted. “The NBA is trying to laugh at Oklahoma City’s lightning. They’re exposed.”
He continued it in another angry comment:
“Snake bite. With unstable hands. I hesitate. I’m not sure. I know I’m missing my sweaty fingertips.”
Thankfully, their struggle lasted only a quarter until it reached the lightning. They rose 14 points at halftime and ultimately won 125-93.
It turns out Bayless was too fast to criticize his team. He tilted them to win the NBA Championship hours after the rant.
“I’m about to unleash the video of NBA champion OKC Thunder soon,” he posted to his 3.1 million followers.
Oklahoma City was lucky that Denver had already played a 7-game series against the Clippers.
It probably had something to do with their poor Game 7 performance and Aaron Gordon’s hamstring injury.
Now, as the Thunder faces the well-thought-out Minnesota Timberwolves team, the table turns into the Western Conference final.
Minnesota defeated the Golden State Warriors in a gentleman’s sweep on Wednesday night. That means there was another 4 days to recover and prepare.
The good news for the Mark Daigneault team is that they are probably the deepest in the NBA. So you can withstand some hard-working performances from players more than anyone else.
