Patrick Baldwin is looking to inspire his career with the Los Angeles Clippers.
Former Golden State Warriors draft pick Patrick Baldwin Jr. signed with the La Clippers after a trade deadline after being abandoned by the San Antonio Spurs.
He previously had been with the Washington Wizards, but was sent by the Warriors in 2023 as part of the Jordan Pool trade.
After signing a two-way contract with the Clippers, Baldwin JR played only in two games for them and did not appear in the playoffs.
Now he has the opportunity to show what he can do in the Summer League.
Patrick Baldwin Jr. was one of the stars of the show as the La Clippers recorded a 106-91 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.
Baldwin Jr. scored 22 points and contributed 13 rebounds. He recorded a shooting rate of 50-40-100 along the way.
He was the best scorer on the court, edging his teammates Jordan Miller and Cam Christie, each with 21 points.
Talking the postgame with Joey Lynn, Patrick Baldwin Jr., admitted that he is working hard to add mental strength to a game he previously lacked.
Baldwin Jr. says he added an “edge” that he didn’t have when he was drafted by the Golden State Warriors on his 28th overall pick.
He explained:
“The winning team has that. It can be developed. I’m not going to sit here and say I had an advantage in my game five years ago.
“That’s something I’ve been working on. It’s something I saw that the team I won have. Just as you can add physical parts, you can add mental parts to your game.”
Baldwin JR had to deal with knockback and adversity in his previous NBA career and had to settle for a two-way contract last year.
Now, Baldwin Jr., who is about to showcase his qualifications in the summer league, is only 22 years old and says he was missing at the start of his career.
He has so far been unable to show the Warriors that it was wrong to give up on him early in his career, but with the extra mental edge and motivation, he may just have a chance.
