Jeremy Lynn’s “Linsanity Run” holds a special place in the hearts of NBA fans.
After all, Jeremy Lynn’s rise in stardom came naturally when he became the savior of the New York Knicks for a short time.
After the nine-year NBA veteran recently said goodbye to a basketball game, the Knicks had a special message for Lynn.
Speaking of Lynn, former NBA guard Patrick Beverly shared an incredible story about the 37-year-old’s popularity.
After an incredible year with the Knicks, Lynn signed with the Houston Rockets for the 2012-13 NBA season. At the same time, Beverly joined the franchise.
However, it wasn’t until the 2013-14 season that Beverly acquired the role he started with the Rockets. The aftermath of that decision shocked Beverly his core.
“I was featured on the internet a long time ago, and I think this is why I’m used to it since day one, and I’m used to it, and I’m used to it, and to the negative energy that comes with the internet and Twitter.
“The days I started in the NBA and the days Jeremy Lynn didn’t, I got so much s___ on the internet,” Beverly said on his podcast.
He added: “I’m talking, he had stardom… I played with LeBron James on the Miami Heat in the preseason, and Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosch, and the next big guys I played in the NBA were James Harden and Jeremy Lin.”
Comparing Lin’s stardom with LeBron James’ stardom speaks volumes about Lin’s organic popularity among NBA fans. And the credit for that lies in his “Linsanity Run” with the Knicks.
Lynn was good during his sensational run with the Knicks, so he couldn’t take over that momentum during his tenure with the Rocket.
Certainly, he averaged 13.0 points, 2.8 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game for the Rockets, but he slowly shifted to the bench to favor Beverly.
Speaking of this decision, Beverly said: “The number of people Jeremy Lynn was on the bus, when we landed, when we took off, at the airport, when we landed, what we’ve never seen before.”
“He was off like Linsanity? So when they benched him and started me, they were cooking me.
“I’m talking about putting me on the grill absolutely. I’m talking about destroying me until I had to turn off my internet,” concluded Beverly.
Even with the support of millions of basketball fans behind him, Lynn was eventually reduced to role players posting Rocket’s tenure, leaving the NBA after the 2018-19 season.
