CARROLTON, Texas – Patrick Reed and Harold Verner III shot a 5-under 67 at Marideau Golf Club on Friday, sharing the first-round lead for Liv Golf Dallas.
The lead eagled 655 yards, par 5 second hole, and had four birdies and bogeys. Reed’s four-stage teammate, Varner, had six birdies and a closing bogey.
Brooks Koepka retreated during the round due to illness. He crushed the tee marker along with the driver in the ninth hole.
John Rahm had a stroke. Abraham Ansser shot 69 and Dustin Johnson was 70 years old with Graeme McDowell, Annealvan Lahili, Richard Brand and David Puig.
Bryson Deccanbeau opened at 72. He lives in Dallas and played college golf at SMU.
Points leader Joaquin Neimann shot 78 after winning the Liv Golf Virginia. He scored 10 on par 5.
