The Boston Celtics’ Game 1 loss led to franchise legend Paul Pierce changing the series’ predictions, but he has not yet panicked.
The Boston Celtics dominated the New York Knicks throughout the regular season, but it doesn’t matter if C can’t finish the job.
The Celtics are a huge favorite to be repeated as NBA champions, but the Knicks reminded them that reaching the Eastern Conference Finals is not an easy task.
After all, the Knicks registered a solid 108-105 overtime victory against the Celtics in Game 1 of the second round series between the two teams.
Starting the series with losses is not ideal, but there was a clear reason behind the Celtics’ Game 1 defeat.
Celtics legend Paul Pierce tackled the team’s massive three-point shooting drought, eventually leading to a loss in the series opener.
“There’s no need to be afraid. Sometimes you live by the sword and die in the sword. No need to worry, you heard what Jalen Brown and Jason Tatum said.
He added:
Due to context, the Celtics missed a 3-point shot for an NBA playoff record 45 in Game 1. Nevertheless, the Knicks left with a three-point victory.
Previously, Pierce was sure the Celtics would close things off in just five games and make it to the conference semi-finals.
The 2008 NBA champions haven’t panicked, but have changed their series’ forecasts. He is currently watching the Celtics win the series in six games rather than five games.
“This doesn’t happen every night. Knicks, I’ll take my hat off them. The Celtics bounce off, reminding us that we’re the best road team in all of basketball.”
“The Celtics are six… I’m not worried unless it drops 3-0,” Pierce concluded.
All eyes in Game 2 are made to the Celtics. Pierce insisted that he won’t panic unless the team goes down 3-0, but if he loses the second game in the series, going down 2-0 is also not an ideal scenario.
