Steve Kerr and the Golden State Warriors will have to consider a lot after two opening playoff games in Houston.
The Houston Rockets equalized the series with the Golden State Warriors in Game 2, featuring events where the matchup could have a major impact on upcoming games.
Jimmy Butler landed violently in court in the first quarter and was forced to finish the game. He didn’t come back.
Steve Kerr said Butler said he was fine, but the Warriors star received an MRI for injuries.
Shams Charania provided an update on Jimmy Butler’s health after the scan and posted it via X.
He added: “This is the best case because MRI showed that Butler avoided fractures and structural damage.”
It could potentially come back afterwards based on an update that Jimmy Butler might miss Game 3. Although given to Butler’s ultra-competitive status, nothing can be ruled out.
Steve Kerr was quoted via Ohm Youngmisk. “I think he’ll have a chance to play it.”
Speaking before Kerr’s optimism, former NBA star Paul Pierce believes the Warriors’ chances to win the NBA Championship have been hit seriously.
Pierce warns that even if Butler returns, this is an injury that will hinder him and potentially interfere with him due to the NBA playoffs.
He told Speak:
“I know autumn, I’ve had that injury before, it takes a few weeks, I didn’t miss the time, but it’s two weeks before you even get back to feel like your natural self. It slows you down.
“He may play through that, but he’s not Jimmy Butler, who needs them to go deep into the playoffs.”
Former Boston Celtics superstar Paul Pierce believes the physical demands of the NBA playoffs will bring too many challenges for the slammed Jimmy Butler as the Golden State Warriors rely on him to support Stephen Curry.
Pierce went on to say that he now thinks the Warriors window has been “closed” because of Butler’s injury.
“If Jimmy returns to below 100%, which isn’t great yet, he’ll be playing with his injuries.
“I believe the windows will be closed for the warriors, even if he comes back, as he won’t be 100%.
“It’s devastating. Jimmy Butler is tough. I know if he can come back to that game, he’s coming back. Jimmy is the type of guy who says I don’t need an MRI.
