Paul Pierce believes that if something unique happens during the 2025 playoffs, Stephen Curry and LeBron James might be compared more closely.

The 2025 playoffs kick off tonight, with all eyes turning to LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. The legendary superstar begins his quest for the coveted fifth NBA championship.

The path ahead is not easy as the stacked Western Conferences are ahead. One of the obstacles going forward is Stephen Curry, one of LeBron’s biggest rivals.

Curry put on Iron Man’s performance to help the Warriors reach the playoffs. And if both stars lead their team to a first round victory, they could be set to face off again.

However, Paul Pierce believes that if one outcome occurs before the end of the NBA season, both players’ legacy can be completely changed.

Paul Pierce spoke on Thursday’s episode of “Speak” about LeBron James and Stephen Curry. Pierce believes that the success of curry will cost James.

The former NBA champion claimed that Curry should outperform James in the championship. Fans will have a tough conversation.

“If Steph Curry wins a championship or one championship and wins the Final MVP, I’m going to have a very, very, very, very uncomfortable conversation…”

“That means that during LeBron’s time, he won the fifth title on almost three different teams.”

“Seriously, if he wins another. Think about it. He wins the era. In the LeBron era. This era, LeBron, KD, Curry. This is that era, right?”

“He won five championships, Bron wins four championships and stays with the unanimous MVP. It’s really annoying.

Stephen Curry and LeBron James are both tied up in four championships each. So the big question remains – which players need more fifth championships?

Well, you could argue that it’s LeBron James. He is nearing the end of his career, with the fifth ring putting him just one behind rival Michael Jordan in the goat argument.

Meanwhile, Stephen Curry, who won the fifth ring, elevated him into that conversation. Shaquille O’Neal asks to consider curry in the goat discussion, but another ring will solidify it.

Hopefully, you can see the two legends facing once more.
