Tyrese Maxey and the Philadelphia 76ers are off to a strong start this season.
Tyrese Maxey continues to play like an All-Star, leading the Philadelphia 76ers to a perfect 4-0 record.
The 76ers are getting great play from a young, electrifying backcourt of Maxey and rookie VJ Edgecomb, who has impressive explosiveness and athleticism.
If Joel Embiid can gradually regain his form, the 76ers will be a team to watch in the Eastern Conference.
Maxey has had everyone’s attention to start this season.
After being named to the All-Star team in 2024, Maxey was not selected to the NBA All-Star team in 2025. Maxey’s biggest setback last season was having to deal with multiple injuries that limited him to just 52 games.
However, Maxey is off to a great start this season, averaging a league-high 37.5 points and dishing out 8.3 assists on an impressive 47.4 percent from three-point range.
Paul Pierce spoke about seeing Maxey in person and was very impressed with what he saw.
“I had a chance to watch his first game. When I saw it live, I thought, ‘This guy is impossible to stop.’
“This is his step-back three. He’s explosive to the hole and you can’t stop him in transition.
“The players like that even if he has a bad shooting night, he gets 10-for-12 from the line, makes three threes and that’s already 20 points.”
Maxey opened the season with a 40-point performance on 54 percent shooting from the field against the Boston Celtics.
In the second game against the Charlotte Hornets, he showed off his scoring and playmaking, finishing with 28 points and nine assists.
In the 76ers’ Game 3 game against the Orlando Magic, Maxey hit 46 percent of his shots, had 43 points and eight assists.
And in Game 4, the 76ers made a double-digit comeback, with Maxey scoring 39 points and dishing out 10 assists.
The 76ers are 4-0 in the season opener and will aim to improve to 5-0 in their next matchup against the Celtics.
