Paul Pierce's wild promise comes back to plague him as the Knicks defeated the Celtics in Game 2.

Paul Pierce was sure the Celtics would win Game 2. After the Knicks completed another 20-point comeback and rose 2-0, it doesn’t look very good in NBA legends.

The New York Knicks took a 2-0 series lead with the Boston Celtics in a gritty 91-90 victory.

NBA fans were shocked after the Knicks made playoff history by completing their second straight 20-point comeback. Few people could have predicted this outcome.

After the loss in Game 1, many thought the Celtics would bounce back. Paul Pierce changed the series’ predictions, suggesting he wasn’t worried about Boston.

And even if the rest of the NBA world comes to coincide with this incredible outcome, there’s no one who’s likely to be more troubled by their take than the legend of the Celtics.

Pierce tends to be overly confident and sometimes over the top billing. However, given that his predictions have not been realized, this may take the cake.

If the Celtics lose Game 2 at home, I promise you, I’ll be walking here tomorrow,” Pierce said in a story about FS1.

“I’ve been walking here 15 miles. In my robe, without shoes, barefoot. If the Celtics lose, I’m telling you now, I’m taking this seriously.

“I guarantee this and leave your house in this game. Leave your house. You won’t lose any shots. There’s no chance. I had the chance to get out of this studio and see the dinosaurs.”

The entertainment value of Paul Pierce’s take cannot be denied, but in the aftermath of this loss it certainly ages like milk.

Both of these teams are very evenly matched, as shown by the fact that the Knicks scored Game 1 for three points and Game 2 for a single point.

In the playoffs, the biggest difference maker is how well the superstars work. Jalen Brunson led the way to New York, but the Celtics can’t say the same thing about their best players.

Jason Tatum was terrible Wednesday, scoring just 13 points in 26.3% shooting from the field, losing four of his five three-point attempts.

Your final MVP Jalen Brown’s 20 points weren’t that good either.

Boston is still in this series. They are champions for reasons. But the superstars need to step up. Otherwise, the Celtics affiliates are not the only ones who might have to hide their faces after the series.
