Payton Talbott did not underestimate the loss of his first career.
Talbot announced another impressive performance within the UFC 317 Octagon, earning a unanimous decision victory over Feliperima in Las Vegas. However, just six months ago, the Nevada native suffered from his first setback as a professional fighter, facing Raoni Barcelos in UFC 311.
Looking back at his recent losses during his appearance on Ariel Helwanishaw, Talbot revealed that the defeat was deeply overwhelming his mind and had an impact on his ability to train.
“I didn’t downplay it. I lost the fight. And if the reference wasn’t there, it would be me and he killed me. And I didn’t dab it. It was deep. It stayed up late into the night.
“It took me quite a while to actually go back to training. After the fight, the dizzy episodes were really bad for about a month or two, so once it was completely healed, that was the main motivation for the training and actually helped a lot.”
Payton Talbot will be making future world champions
Losing can be a difficult drug for some fighters to swallow, but what really matters is how you deal with the loss.
Needless to say, Talbot responded to the way world-class athletes would. On the next outing he wore the dominant display and raised his hands again. We don’t know what’s next for the 26-year-old standout yet, but in his career and 11 battles, it’s clear that Talbot has everything that’s a future world champion.
