Pecco Bagnaia has returned to comments made after Argentina’s MotoGP round after a tough start to 2025.
The Double World Champion is overwhelmingly defeated by his factory Ducati teammate Marc Marquez in the opening two rounds of 2025.
Mark Marquez has won all the races so far in 2025, but Bagnaia has two thirds of the sprints and a third and fourth Gran on the scorecard.
Entering the US Grand Prix this weekend, Bagnaia currently houses Marc Marquez’s 31-point drift in the rankings.
After Argentina, Bagnaia told the media: “I might return to the GP24 after the next race.
This comment came as a surprise given that the current version of the GP25 is very close to its predecessor after Ducati chose its 2025 engine for the bin and continued its 2024 chassis and aero kit for the opening race.
At the American Grand Prix on Thursday, Bagnaia betrayed the statement, claiming that he missed poke and did not change what he was planning to say in English.
“Unfortunately, I’m not very good at explaining things in English because what I wanted to explain is to get back to the feeling of a GP24,” he said.
“I don’t want to switch to the GP24 because that’s not possible either.
“So I know there’s a good chance that a new bike is likely. Mark shows it. So I just need to focus and find my feelings.”
Where he is losing in GP25, Bagnaia revealed:
“That was a uniquely good point from my riding style. So we have to focus on it and try to improve.”
This weekend’s US Grand Prix is expected to be dominated by Bagnaia’s teammate Marc Marquez, given his record of seven wins at COTA since 2013.
Bagnaia has only had one Cota Podium in his credits at MotoGP since 2021, but last year endured a difficult weekend and only came up with a fifth place finish at the Grand Prix.
However, he believes that “we can be faster here compared to Argentina.”
“I’m ready as usual,” he said.
“We always do a very good job at home, we train well and try to analyze everything from the perspective of what I can do.
“I used my manager Gianluca (Falcioni) to analyze a variety of things.
“We did other things using our trainer Carlo (Casabianca), so I think we need to prepare and try to improve the race weekend.
“It’s obviously not an ideal start in terms of emotion, but I’ve finished all the top four races, so we just need to stay calm and continue to work the way I do it.
“I feel good because I know I can get faster here compared to Argentina, which has always been a difficult track for me in all categories.
“So I’m going to continue improving because I’ve been competitive since Friday morning and know that there’s a chance that’s more likely here.”
