It’s safe to say that Manchester City is working together to beat the average age of the team.
In January they signed Zhumaba (18), Niko Gonzalez (23), Vitrreis (19) and Abdukodier Kusanov (21), but Kyle Walker and Kevin De Bruin, ages 34 and 33, respectively, were both coming out of Etihad.
Thousands of millions of people will be spent on signatures, but Man City may have unearthed the highest quality youth from within its youth system.
Miles Lewis Skelly’s impact at Arsenal
The teenager made his full Premier League debut against Everton on December 14th, and few people heard of Miles Lewis Skelly just six months ago.
But now, despite still making senior appearances under 30 for the gunners, he is the left back of the indisputable first choice.
Sky Sports’ Adam Bate outlines how the 18-year-old enjoyed the astronomical rise boasting someone else’s “sw walk” beyond his age.
Last month, Louis Skelly became the youngest debutant to score in England, calmly slotting Thomas Strakosha’s feet in just 20 minutes at Wembley with Albania and only 20 minutes into the foot.
So, Hale End’s homemade hero continues to be impressed with Arsenal, but did he find the answer to him in Manchester City?
Man City’s own Miles Lewis Skelly
Manchester City’s FA Cup scored a goal against Bournemouth, which looked like it was sliding down the south coast.
In response, Pep Guardiola made a halftime change at Dorset, introducing Nico O’Reilly at left back and pushing Joshko Gvaldior into the centre of the Man City defense.
Well, even Guardiola couldn’t imagine how well this switch would work. Because within seconds, O’Reilly registered the ball for Eriling Blout Holland to set the winner for O’Maal Marmash.
Guardiola then praised O’Reilly’s influence as “incredible,” adding that “he’ll certainly play in the semi-finals,” and Guardian Ben Fisher labeled the tactical adjustment “master stroke.”
Like Lewis Skelly, O’Reilly is a midfielder of trade, and BBC Sports’ Emlyn Begley documents him as truly an “offensive midfielder” but “flexible.”
Nevertheless, the 20-year-old has faced both Leicester and Manchester United since his late cameo at Dean Court, finding a home at left back.
So let’s take a look at how he and the Arsenal teen star compare.

As the table above outlines, O’Reilly and Lewis Skelly are very similar in stylist-wise, but it’s not too surprising if the Arsenal men played almost twice as many minutes in all previous competitions.
Interestingly, O’Reilly registers a significant touch per 90, but he also threatens more goals and emphasizes that if given a choice, he will play as an offensive midfielder.
So O’Reilly, who is likely to be rolled out on the left-back against Crystal Palace on Saturday, will certainly be tested considering how dangerous Daniel Munoz and Ismaila Sarl are as duoes on the right side of the Eagles.
