Former Manchester United winger Nani has called on his former club to secure the transfer of Tottenham midfielder Joao Parinha.
The Portugal international is currently on loan at Spurs from Bayern Munich and previously enjoyed a successful spell in the Premier League with Fulham.
Nani also knows Parinha from their time together at Sporting Lisbon, and it’s clear the former Red Devil is a big fan.
Speaking to Covers.com, Nani named Parinha as an ideal target for Manchester United, as quoted by Metro. He looks like the perfect player to fit into Manchester United’s DNA.
Manchester United seek transfer of Joao Parinha
It remains to be seen whether Parinha is indeed a realistic target for United in the near future, but manager Nani has named him as his dream signing.
MUFC also appear to be in need of new reinforcements in that area of their squad, and Parinha would certainly be a significant upgrade over the unconvincing Manuel Ugarte.
“Joao Parinha is a great player. I played with him at Sporting, where he grew and learned a lot. After a few years, he became one of the best players in his position,” said Nani.
“He is very strong and has a talent for winning the ball back and making tackles. He has also improved his forward play, scoring goals, connecting with the team and moving forward with the ball. He has become the perfect player in his position.”
“He’s a great player and I think he’ll do really well at Tottenham. He had his chance at Bayern as well and I don’t know what next season will be like, but he’s a player who can play for any team in the world. He needs to be consistent and healthy because injuries sometimes cause problems. I believe he’s going to have a great career.”
He added: “He’s a player with a lot of energy, who can recover the ball and fight. That fits right into Man United’s DNA.”
United have been linked with a number of other midfielders and it remains to be seen at what point they will make Palinha a priority, but Nani has made some positive points about his suitability for the squad.
