The PFL is already facing turbulence at the start of the 2025 season.
Top welterweight competitor Maghhom Umaratov (17-1) has been removed from the PFL 1 lineup and the season’s 170 pound tournament after missing weights on Wednesday, the league announced in a press release. Umaratov was in the 2024 welterweight tournament, followed by Shamil Musayev and was scheduled to compete with Logan Story (16-3) at Thursday’s event in Orlando.
The story is currently fighting Joseph Luciano (9-2). Joseph Luciano was originally scheduled to fight Sarek Shield in the spare parts of the cards. It remains to be seen whether Umaratov will be booked for non-tournament matches this season.
All other welterweight tournament participants managed to lose weight, including former Bellator champions Jason Jackson and Andrei Koleshikov, whom they met at the opening.

The event also marks the start of a featherweight tournament. This will be revived as undefeated 2021 league champion Movlid Khaybulaev competes with Jeremy Kennedy, plus 2023 champion Jesus Pinedo matches Adam Borics.
