Can’t Patricio Pitbull find success in octagons?
That’s a matter of the heart of fight fans as the former two-division Bellator champions are set to make their long-awaited promotional debut at UFC 314 in Miami on April 12th. There, Pitbull squares with former interim featherweight title holder Ia Rodriguez in a battle that can break the chances of a rookie one day trying for a UFC title.
This will be the first time Pitbull competed since his ugly parting with the professional Fighters League. Offering his views on the Brazilian’s move from the smart cage to the octagon, PFL broadcaster Sean O’Connell believes Pitbull can take part in the wake-up call.
“I was ultimately proud of how the Pitbull situation was handled. He was out. He didn’t want to continue fighting under the PFL banner. He’s the guy who stinked a huge stinky on social media,” O’Connell told Ariel Helwani’s show. “If you think you can achieve something better elsewhere and make more money elsewhere, try moving on.”
“I really hope for him. I’m a huge fan of his fighting style, but I don’t think he’s going to do it more or less than he did in the UFC with the Bellator Banner or PFL.
There are many questions about Patricio Pitbull’s UFC debut
To be fair, PFL is a bit bitter about losing one of the biggest stars of Bellator. Still, there are plenty of questions surrounding Pitbull’s UFC debut.
Pitbull turns 38 this year and has already competed 43 times in his career, making many wonder how much mileage he has left. Pitbull also lost two of their final three matches, dropping a back-to-back contest with Sergio Pettis and Suzuki Chihiro before bounced back a bounce against Jeremy Kennedy in March.
Overall, Pitbull is 36-7 with 24 wins coming far. This is a perfect 12/12 split between knockouts and submissions.
