Yamaha celebrates its 70th anniversary and marks all four of its MotoGP riders with special retro colouring inspired by the iconic 1999 YZF-R7. Fabio Qualtaralo, Alex Rins, Jack Miller, and Miguel Oliveira.
Famously raced at the World Superbike Championship, the red and white colours will adorn both the Monster Energy and the Prima Pramac M1 at the Dutch Grand Prix on Sunday, and will be displayed in addition to team clothing, leather, gloves and helmets.
“Today, we marked a truly iconic moment as both Yamaha’s MotoGP teams united on the grid and introduced four MotoGP bikes along with the iconic 1999 YZF-R7.”
“The strong vision of two teams that become one by using the same colouring represents more than just the existence of shared tracks. As of this year, it reflects a new strategic thinking.

Yamaha was founded on July 1, 1955. This is the date celebrated annually as “Yamaha Day.” Assen was chosen as the venue for the official anniversary homage as the 70th anniversary fell a day after this year’s Dutch Grand Prix.
“Throughout the last 70 years, Yamaha has celebrated many achievements at races of all levels,” Pavesio added. “In the World Road Race Championship alone, Yamaha has won 39 rider titles, 37 constructor titles and seven team titles, marking the enduring competitiveness and innovation on the world stage.
“But beyond the trophies and titles, Yamaha’s most crucial attributes are its unwavering passion for racing and its “spirit of challenge.” ”

The factory’s latest Assen victory was courtesy of Quartarraro in 2021.
“The special colour scheme is amazing. I think it will make this Grand Prix weekend even more memorable. It adds a bit of excitement,” the Frenchman said.
Teammate Alex Lyns added: “This GP is a special occasion for Yamaha, and it’s always nice to have fresh colouring! We went out again with leather, boots, gloves and helmets matching the colouring.
Jack Miller from Pramac said he is proud to wear retro colors.
“These colors are so special to Yamaha and it’s truly amazing to see that they are part of this celebration,” Miller said.
“The bikes always look great, but given the history of Yamaha racing, these red and white colors are iconic – from the 1975 Ago championship to the victory of Kenny Roberts and other legendary champions.
“Lace with these colors brings great pride and there’s no better place to wear than Assen, who is celebrating its 100th race. What’s more, it’s a perfect preview to race in red and white for a 8-hour Suzuka in just a few weeks.”

Teammate Oliveira added:
“70 years has been an incredible milestone and considering the riders who competed and won at Yamaha, it really gives you goosebumps.
“The colouring of the bike is fantastic. It reflects a past that continues to shape this brand as it is now, and hopefully continues to have a great future. Even a small part of this epic story is truly special to me.”
With the exception of the 2020 pandemic hit calendar, Assen is the only circuit to appear in all MotoGP seasons since the World Championship began in 1949.
This weekend marks the 100th Dutch TT, making it a perfect environment for the Yamaha milestone celebration.
