The Los Angeles may be at the top of baseball’s best division, but that doesn’t mean they’re doing smooth sailing for the defending champions.

In many ways, the new season feels like a continuation of the 2024 campaign in terms of injury. Two starters, Blakesnell and Tyler Grassnow, are currently on the injured list and have no solid schedule to return.
Currently, IL has 13 pitchers. Pitching coach Mark discussed the difficulty of navigating the misery of injuries that have plagued LA in recent years.
“When they reach this level, sometimes they get used to it in different roles and are taxed in a variety of ways that they may not be used to,” said Athletic Fabian Alda. “That’s one of the things we considered, we’re trying to prepare whether they’re coming in full, or whether the starter has become a bailout.
“When you come here, things change and it changes very dramatically. A guy may be pitching every six days. Suddenly, you’re expected to pitch multiple innings.
The ‘ starter recorded the fewest innings in the league. Meanwhile, the bullpen leads the league in the innings. This is a concerning trend for teams entering the postseason with three starting pitchers and one taxed bullpen.
Nevertheless, the are hoping to get most of the pitchers back later in the season.
