The question many are asking is whether rotation injuries will propel the and push the shoe hei ohtani back to the mound earlier than planned. Manager Dave Roberts answered the looming questions surrounding Otani’s long-awaited return in a stressed way.
“No, no, not at all,” Roberts said. “I think Shohei is a separate process. I think yesterday was (GM Brandon Gomes). It’s weekly and I really don’t know.
Roberts previously said Otani’s pitching debut was still months away, but some insiders have speculated that they won’t take the mound until the All-Star has a break. The have made it clear enough that Otani is able to pitch later in the season and in October is a priority.
Regarding the ‘ plans to do in light of recent pitching injuries, Roberts revealed that the team will have more frequent conversations with Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Joijo and Saga, at least.
Currently, both pitchers are on a weekly schedule. However, with Glasnow and Snell lost, it would be difficult to maintain Yamamato and Sasaki’s schedule.
An injury aside, another trend is bullpen use. The bullpen is currently leading the league in the innings. This indicates that the rasters are not taking on the right amount of frames needed to avoid abuse of the bullpen.
It appears the will have some questions in the coming weeks.
