The Portland Trail Blazers have made a big decision regarding the future of Toumani Kamara.
This summer, the Portland Trail Blazers parted ways with former No. 1 overall pick Deandre Ayton and revamped their roster.
The Trail Blazers are essentially heading into a new era, one in which 25-year-old power forward Toumani Kamara has secured a seat.
According to NBA insider Shams Charania, Kamara and the Trail Blazers have agreed to a four-year, $82 million contract extension for the 2025-26 season.
When the Trail Blazers fan base heard the news, they believed Kamara was a steal and were nothing but happy.
“Great value. Already an elite defender and an offensive player who continues to develop,” one fan wrote. Meanwhile, another added: “Great deal now!”
“What a steal of a contract Portland is,” added a third fan.
“Really smart move by the Blazers. He’s going to be a really good player in two years,” predicted a fourth fan.
A fifth fan said: “What a steal.”
“Only $82 million?? He’s worth at least $100 million more which is an absolute steal,” a sixth fan wrote in surprise.
Despite being a second-round pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, Kamara quickly impressed the Trail Blazers, primarily due to his defensive prowess.

When it comes to defense, Kamara finished ninth in the 2025 NBA Defensive Player of the Year race. He also earned his first NBA All-Defensive selection.
Combine that with 11.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game, and Kamara is certainly a steal considering his $20.5 million annual salary.
But Kamara’s most notable skill is his defense, where he averaged 1.5 steals and 0.6 blocks per game last season.
With Ayton off the roster, Trail Blazers fans should expect Kamara to further improve on the defensive end of the floor and potentially earn NBA DPOY in the future.
