Liam Dellup has been linked to Chelsea, Man United and Newcastle over the past few months as he prepares to leave Ipswich in the summer. However, new candidates appeared on a recent day after the public confirmation of interest from other clubs.
Delap is one of the players to watch this summer, and multiple clubs are expected to sign him. Confirmation of Ipswich’s relegation last weekend means his £30 million relegation release clause is currently active, and at this stage Chelsea believes they’re a favorite to sign the line.
But now, Everton’s hat has been thrown into the ring by David Moet.
David Moyes confirms Everton’s interest in Liam Dellup
Speaking to the media earlier this week (via mirror), Moe confirmed that Everton is considering Delap as an option for the attack, but he admitted that he could miss out on his signature.
“He’s certainly someone we’re interested in. I think there’s probably more to him than us that he probably has to see. So if he’s interested in us, we’re certainly interested. That’s true.”
Everton will be in the market for new strikers this summer, with Dominique Calvert Lewin expected to leave when his contract expires. And while Dellup would be a great alternative, it’s probably an unrealistic move due to the interests of Chelsea, Man United and Newcastle.
It is still unknown where Delap will end in the summer, but Merseyside appears to be somewhere he won’t go. That’s because Liverpool dedicated his moves for him during the transfer window.
