The Premier League is the most watched league on the planet and is home to some of the world’s greatest players.

Mohamed Salah established himself as one of the best wingers of all time last season, winning the PFA Player of the Year award for a record third time. But who is the best player in England’s top flight at the moment?

Manchester United’s Benjamin Sesco has scored in back-to-back games to move into the top 50 for the first time, while Tijani Lijnders’ strong start to the season ended with just one assist since his opening day masterclass against Wolves.

Like his compatriot, Kodi Gakpo also scored in the defeat to Chelsea, but his impressive start to the season is in doubt, with Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike both threatening a place in Liverpool’s best XI.

Robin Roofs was one of the signings of the season so far and made a fine save in the Black Cats’ 2-0 defeat at Old Trafford, while Anton Stach continued the theme of the summer having a big impact, scoring once and settling into Leeds’ midfield.

Igor Thiago is another new player who has already scored four goals for Brentford and dominates the top flight, despite missing a great chance in his side’s defeat to Manchester City. In Liverpool’s recent defeat to Crystal Palace, Alisson Becker was the only thing standing between Liverpool and Bruise, with Jeremy Doku providing three assists in just four starts.

21. Mark Senesi

bournemouth

Bukayo Saka’s injury problems have meant a slow start to the season by his lofty standards, but he returned to form with a goal in the win over West Ham, joining Spain team-mates Martin Zvimendi and David Raya in the top 30.

Bournemouth remain one of the surprise packages of the season, with Marcos Senesi leading the defense, while Les Ferdinand and Alan Shearer are joined by Nick Waltemaid as Newcastle’s only players to score in their first three Premier League home games.

20-11

20. Jadon Anthony

19. Adam Wharton

18. Bruno Fernandes

17. Jarrod Bowen

15. Hugo Ekitike

14. Sandro Tonali

newcastle

13. Mohamed is wrong

liverpool

12. Granit Xhaka

sunderland

11. Cristian Romero

tottenham

Jadon Anthony is probably the best player in the Premier League that no one is talking about, scoring four goals and providing one assist for a struggling Burnley side.

Mohamed Salah is producing the end product as usual, but there are concerns about his lack of involvement in Liverpool’s overall play.

10

Julian Timber – Arsenal

Timber is perhaps the best right-back in world football right now, and while he has already scored twice for Arsenal, he has also been dominant defensively, contributing to the Gunners’ rearguard who have conceded just three goals in seven games so far.

9

Mohamed Kudus – Tottenham

Kudus couldn’t have gotten off to a better start with four assists at London’s Northside as Spurs aim for an unexpected title challenge.

8

Virgil van Dijk – Liverpool

The Liverpool captain has once again been at his best this season, carrying the backline of a Reds side struggling with the out-of-form Ibrahima Konate and a new full-back who is struggling to establish himself.

7

Declan Rice – Arsenal

Much of what Rice said at the Emirates Stadium may have gone unnoticed, but the England international was once again brilliant. He has added some final product to his game over the past 12 months, scoring one goal and providing two assists so far this season.

6

Jack Grealish – Everton

Grealish, an early favorite to sign this season, proved his doubters wrong at Everton and adds a spark to David Moyes’ strength. The Englishman, who scored the winning goal in the last game against Crystal Palace, is on a roll heading into the 2026 World Cup.

5

Ryan Gravenbirch – Liverpool

Last season’s PFA Young Player of the Year was again sensational, scoring the winning goals against Newcastle and Everton, averaging three tackles and an interception per game, and completing 88 per cent of his passes.

4

Gabriel Magalhães – Arsenal

If there’s a real challenger to Van Dijk’s crown as the Premier League’s top centre-back, it’s Arsenal’s Gabriel. The Brazilian has had to change partners at times this season due to William Saliba’s injury, but he scored the winning goal against Newcastle and has more than five clearances per game.

3

Moises Caicedo – Chelsea

If there’s one thing missing from Caicedo’s game, it’s goals and assists, but nothing more. The Chelsea star scored his sensational third goal of the season against Liverpool and leads the league with four tackles per game (minimum of five starts).

2

Antoine Semenyo – Bournemouth

Semenyo was a high-profile player in the summer but has now penned a new contract with Bournemouth. The Cherries will be delighted to sign him. The 25-year-old has six goals and three assists, and only fantasy managers would be happier than Andoni Iraola.

1

Erling Haaland – Man City

9 goals in 596 minutes of soccer. Haaland had one shot at the back of the goal in the 66th minute. The scariest thing for the rest of the Premier League is that the Norwegian only seems to be getting better.
