According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Brentford’s Joane Wissa’s future has undergone a dramatic shift, with the forwards making his intentions clear on social media.
The 28-year-old has changed his profile photo to black and removed all of the club color images from his Instagram account, as he has not read Brentford’s official channel.
The move is seen as a clear signal of his frustration as he aims to design a transfer from the bees.
Wissa is strongly linked to a move to Newcastle United, eager to add offensive firepower this summer.
Brentford is blocking Wissa’s journey to Newcastle United
But Brentford has been solid to date and has hindered progress in any transaction. The West London Club has set a valuation of over £60 million. Newcastle now considers it to be abrupt.
The player’s complaints stem from what he feels is a broken promise. As Jacobs reports, Wissa had previously been said that Brentford would consider his offer for around £26 million (Euro 30 million).
That understanding came more than a year ago when Congo agreed to stay following Ivan Tony’s departure for Al Ali.
Fast forward to this summer, Brentford’s attitude has changed dramatically, with the club demanding more than twice that number.
From Brentford’s perspective, reasoning is clear. With Bryan Mbeumo already on the way, the club cannot afford to weaken the front line without ensuring proper reinforcement.
They added Dango Watara, but he is primarily considered an alternative to Mbemo, not Wissa.
Brentford wants to sign a Wissa replacement first
In any deal, Brentford wants to move both their valuation and another forward through the door to avoid missing out on options.
For Newcastle, Wissa’s pursuit emphasizes their ambition to add proven Premier League quality to their ranks. Having enjoyed one of his best seasons last year, Wissa is considered an ideal fit for Eddie Howe’s system due to its frontline versatility.
Magpies are working hard behind the scenes to add more options to their offensive power, due to Alexander Isaac’s uncertain future.
Wissa now shows her intention to move on from Brentford. It all depends on what the club decides and how it moves forward with a potential transfer.
