Manchester United reportedly are ready to move forward for Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins if the prices are correct.
According to Ben Jacobs, the Red Devils held their first consultation on signing England International, but the villa is currently being seen as being too high.
Catch off side Reuben Amorim is keen to invite players with Premier League experience this summer, and has previously reported that Man UTD has seen Watkins.
The club’s main signatures up until now have been Brian Mbeumo and Matthew Cunha, along with teenage fullback Diego Leon.
See below. Jacobs sees the report that Watkins is another unified target.
“Manchester United have held a new talk about Ollie Watkins. Villa’s £60 million rating is currently considered too high, #murnc If prices went down, we were prepared to move things forward,” Jacobs posted.
He added: “The Villa has no plans to change her position unless a replacement is found. One player from Nicholas Jackson is grateful.”
Does Ollie Watkins need striker Manchester United?
Watkins has Villa’s recent goals scorer, managing a total of 19 goals and 13 assists in all club and country competitions last season.
It certainly makes him a significant upgrade to Rasmus Hojlund.
| player | game | the goal | assist |
| Ollie Watkins | 60 | 19 | 13 |
| Rasmus Hojlund | 60 | 11 | 2 |
Still, Watkins is younger and obviously won’t be cheaper, so this could be a bit of a gamble for MUFC.
However, this is a difficult market, with many big strikers already moving to this transfer window, with Liam Dellup and Joa Pedro joining Chelsea, Hugo Ekitike joining Liverpool and Victor Gjoker closed to travel to Arsenal according to Athletic.
