According to the allegations of Turkish outlet Kuzey Eksprès, Wolverhampton Wanderers are locked up in the signature of Rennes centre-back Christopher Woo.
The 23-year-old Cameroon International has been attracting interest throughout Europe after an impressive season in League One, making 21 appearances for Rennes.
Standing at 6’3″ Wooh has become a trustworthy figure in the Rennes backline and is considered a defender with important potential for further development.
Trabzonspor was initially in pole position to secure the service of the defender.
Wolf edge close to Christopher Woo’s signature
But Trabzonspor’s Ertugrul Do, he confirmed Wooh’s desire to play in the Premier League complicates the deal, saying:
“We signed a contract with Rennes for Wooh. We signed a preliminary protocol. But the player wants to go to the Premier League. He is negotiating with another team. He is trying to overcome this issue.”
A report from French outlet L’équipe claims that Rennes is open to selling Oo this summer as they are trying to balance their team and finances.
The wolves are reportedly preparing a formal offer this summer to secure Wu’s signature.
The Premier League is looking for fresh talent
Wolves sports director Matt Hobbs is keen to add players with potential for resale, and Wooh’s age, international experience and quality make it an attractive option in the difficult-to-value Premier League market.
Woo, who has signed with Rennes until June 2026, has made it clear through his representative that he sees the Premier League as an ideal next step in his career, further increasing his chances of securing a wolf move despite Trabzonpol’s continued interest.
The wolf was able to sign the defender, but another wolf was able to leave the club soon. Nelson Semedo reportedly decided to quit his Premier League club.
The Wolves are to lead the official bid of the £25 million playmaker to the table
