Quinten Post is one of the Golden State Warriors’ most intriguing young players.
Last season, he finished his rookie season with an impressive 8.1 points per game on 40.8% 3-point shooting.
Quinten Post has proven himself as a floor-stretching center and has become a key rotation player for the Warriors.
Post showed off his shooting ability again during the preseason, scoring 16 points on three 3-pointers in his final game against Portland.
Despite his offensive contributions, Post believes his success was primarily due to Stephen Curry creating opportunities on the floor.
“I think what we saw today is that Steph Curry is on the court. He makes everything so much easier for everyone offensively. And defensively, I think he did a much better job than when I first saw him,” Post explained.
This game marked Curry’s return after missing the previous game against the Los Angeles Lakers. He scored 28 points and helped the Warriors beat the Blazers 118-111.
“I think this is a big statement game for him (Curry). He was out the last game and kind of just came back. He said something before the game, which was good. But just his leadership and setting the tone offensively, he hit 28, he just makes all the difference.”
Since Curry is responsible for the offense, Post said he needs to become a better rebounder to help the Warriors’ defense.
Against Portland, Post only grabbed two defensive rebounds, which is not good enough for a center.
“I was able to control the pace a little bit, but I still turned the ball around too much and on the defensive glass, so I don’t know what the rebounding battle was. Personally, all I’m concerned about with my game right now is getting better as a rebounder,” Post said.
Post needs to work on this aspect of his game, especially after receiving criticism for his defensive deficiencies last season.
If he develops next season, he will likely maintain a key role in the rotation while benefiting from Al Horford’s guidance. That’s because the two share a similar style of play as floor-stretching centers.
