The South African national cricket team received a major boost as Quinton Decock overturned his retirement from ODI cricket. Quinton de Kock has been named to both the ODI and T20I teams for the Proteas Tour in Pakistan next month.
The veteran wicketkeeper batter played for the last time in South Africa in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 Finals held in Barbados. He previously retired from Test Cricket during the 2021 India Series and cited his family’s commitments, but also left ODI after the ICC World Cup 2023.
While away from the international arena, Decock played franchise leagues all over the world. He has appeared in the South African franchise league SA20, the Indian Premier League (IPL), Major League Cricket and most recently the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

With Quinton de Kock confirming his return to ODI Cricket, South Africa’s head coach Shukri Conrad revealed that discussions with the veteran wicketkeeper showed he is eager to represent Protea again and continue his whiteball career. He also emphasized that De Kock’s experience and aggressive batting bring great value to the proteer’s side.
“Quinton’s return to the whiteball space is a huge boost for us. When we spoke about his future last month, it was clear that he still has strong ambitions to represent his country,” Shukri Conrad said in an official statement.
