When the Los Angeles stunned the Milwaukee Brewers with a 4-0 NLCS victory and advanced to their second World Series in as many years, utility star Quique Hernandez sent a clear message about his intentions.
As you can imagine, he’s by no means satisfied with just returning to the Fall Classic, especially considering Hernandez’s production has increased since the calendar turned to October.

“This will be my fifth (World Series) and I’ve been on the wrong side of two of them,” Hernandez said. “And when you’re going in the wrong direction in this series, especially when you get to the end, it’s not a good feeling. I remember how it felt to get there and lose. So after two losses, you get to a point where you’re like, ‘Okay, we don’t have to be complacent or complacent yet until we accomplish what we set out to do.’
Hernandez was with the during pennant years in 2017 and 2018, which ended in disastrous losses, but he won it all in LA in 2020. After a short stint with the Boston Red Sox, he returned to win another World Series in 2024.
“The goal is not to go to the World Series. The goal is to win the World Series,” Hernandez said. “And we’ve talked since day one that if we don’t win the World Series, this season is a failure. We have to win four more games before we lose four. Then we can accomplish something pretty special.”
While winning back-to-back MLB titles for the first time in a quarter century is certainly special, Hernandez and the are only focused on the next four wins.
