Ex-F1 driver Ralf Schumacher says it’s “tragic” to see Lewis Hamilton struggling at the moment, despite claiming that the seven-time world champion still has speed.
Hamilton endured another difficult weekend at the Dutch Grand Prix.
The 40-year-old crashed out of the race while running in fifth place, making an uncharacteristic error.
The timing of the safety car caused by Hamilton’s crash did not work in favor of Leclair, who was defeated by Mercedes’ George Russell as a result.
This is the first race that Hamilton did not finish since joining Ferrari.
But now it’s a succession of races without a point.
Despite his DNF, Hamilton remains positive, claiming he is happy with his progress.
Speaking about Sky Germany, Schumacher reveals that Hamilton is placing himself “under immeasurable pressure.”
“I am slowly at a loss because he can do it on the other hand, but he clearly appears to be under a lot of pressure.
“I don’t know how he advised him to continue there if something didn’t happen right away.
“It’s tragic at this point to see him like this. The speed is still there, but too much is going on around it.”
Will Hamilton bounce?
The chances of Lewis Hamilton bounced back at Monza were hit after being handed a grid penalty in fifth place.
He was found guilty of driving too quickly under a double-wave yellow flag before the race.

Charles Leclerc failed to finish the race at Zandvolt after Kimi Antoneri pines him out.
Leclerc made his second pit stop to cover the Antoneri, who had just stopped by for the soft.
Hamilton still has no top three finishes at the Grand Prix.
He was able to become the first Ferrari driver since Kimi Raikkonen in 2024.
Felipe Massa in 2011 also took the podium, failing to finish past Scuderia’s fifth.
