The Rangers were hit by a massive injury blow to a “immeasurable” player following an update from interim manager Barry Ferguson.
Rangers keep Bilbao healthy
GERS gave an impressive performance at Ibrox on Thursday evening, drawing 0-0 at their home in Athletic Bilbao in the first leg of the Europa League quarterfinals.
Robin Propper was shown with a red card that had only been played for 13 minutes, giving the Rangers a huge, difficult fight, but ultimately Liam Kelly saved Alex Bellenger’s penalty in the second half, leading to a scene of Joy inside the stadium.
Ferguson’s side still has a huge amount of work to make the semi-final ahead of next week’s difficult trip to Bilbao, but they still have a considerable chance to advance.
But one of the few negatives for the Rangers at Night was the serious injury to Dujon Sterling, who grew at 25, leading to concerns about the length of his absence.
Ferguson confirms the blow of the giant Rangers injured
Talk to reporter on Friday (via) Sky Sports), Ferguson confirmed Rangers defender Sterling suffered a long-term injury against Bilbao.
“I have a bit of bad news about Dejon – he’s going to go out for the long term. He has something serious. I’m devastated for a few reasons for him.
“He came in and was immeasurable to me in the back. He has an injury problem. Now we need to cast another long spell on the bystanders. I’m devastated about it.
“We need to get him back as soon as possible. I don’t know exactly (how long he goes out) but it’s long-term. I’m not a medical professional, but I spoke to the doctor. He’s going for surgery on Monday. The surgery will go. ”
This has been a solid performer since arriving from Chelsea in 2023, and has made 70 appearances so far.
This season, the British have made 20 appearances in the Scottish premiership, and Andy Halliday has thanked him.
“I’m sitting here with a lot of other people thinking, ‘Where was Dujon Sterling all season?” For me, his two performances are incredible as he came to the team. ”

The Rangers sold a better player than Robin Propper last year.
Hopefully, Sterling will return the same player he was when he finally returned – and at age 25, that’s true – but he will be a huge loss for the Rangers, especially as an effective team player in the Europa League.
