Tottenham are already looking ahead to January as they plan to strengthen Thomas Frank’s squad for the second half of the season. Midfield is one area that is being looked at, with Rangers’ Nicholas Raskin recently revealed to be a player to watch.
Ruskin left the team at the start of the season amid reports of a falling out with Russell Martin, but returned after the former Southampton manager was sacked. And this could increase the Rangers’ chances of keeping him.
Tottenham unlikely to sign Nicholas Raskin in January
According to Pete O’Rourke (via Football Insider), Tottenham are unlikely to sign Ruskin in January and Rangers are not ready to allow the Belgian midfielder to leave amid their ongoing woes.
“No wonder he’s attracting interest. There was interest in him in the summer but Rangers managed to keep him. I don’t think they’re going to sell in January. They’re going to keep Ruskin and they’ll need him to turn their fortunes around.”
“I don’t expect him to move in the January window. He’s under contract until 2027. There’s interest in him from the Premier League and there’s interest from other European leagues as well. I think it’s a big summer for Rangers, but perhaps if we don’t see any improvement in Ruskin at Rangers, the player himself might be tempted to move.”
Given that Rangers are currently on good pace in the SPFL Premiership, it would make sense for Rangers to keep Raskin for the rest of the season. Tottenham may be prepared to wait until next summer, but a more lucrative contract could be available at that point.
