Rangers officially appoint Russell Martin£5,000-p/w Ranger Ace, who praised Clement, has contact information to leave IbroxRangers will hold talk to sign Coady

With the 49ers acquisition complete and Russell Martin appointed, the Rangers reportedly have begun speaking to sign a Premier League veteran who could now become one of the first arrivals of the summer.

Rangers officially appoint Russell Martin

After much deliberation and countless links with moves like Davide Ancelotti and former manager Steven Gerrard, the Rangers finally came to the decision to hire Russell Martin on Thursday. The former Southampton boss is back in the technical area for the first time since St. Mary’s stint ended in the bag.

By the end of his tenure, the former Norwich City defender will be eager to be there with the most successful manager in the club’s history. However, it remains to be seen whether he will be able to stop the trend of Celtic domination in the Scottish premiership.

New sports director Kevin Selwell welcomes Martin. “We went through a very hardworking and thorough process and tried to use our free time to the best opportunity.

He is only two years left in his current deal.

“He has a lot of experience as a manager and head coach and has found that he has sharpened his approach in his way, from a technical, tactical and personal perspective.”

The new sports director wasted no time after appointing Martin before focusing on the transfer market. GERS even reported that it made its first move this summer to sign an experienced Premier League defender.

Rangers will hold talk to sign Coady

As reported on the Daily Records, the Rangers began speaking to sign Connor Cody of Leicester City. The experienced defender decides to do it earlier than later, as he only has one year left on his current contract with the club.

Given that Thelwell is also reportedly a coadre of Coady, the former Wolverhampton Wanderlers captain may find himself near the top of the Rangers wish list for the coming months.

Given that Coady’s price tag has little time left for his current Leicester trading this summer, it’s fair to assume that it could drop this summer, but if they decide to make their move, they may not be able to escape his £75,000 per week pay for the Rangers.

It’s questionable whether the Ranger will consider a defender experience that is valuable enough to match his current salary.

To Coady’s achievement, even some of the team that was demoted at age 32, found him still at the heart of Leicester boss Ruud van Nistelrooy. “He is a big part of this team, he is one of our leaders.

“He’s a very character and when he’s not playing, he’s still the leader, helping the team, coaching the team, talking to the players, pushing everyone to the highest level in training sessions.”
