Mexico City – Most goals for Raul Rosas Jr. remain shattered Jon Jones’ record as the youngest champion in UFC history, but knowing he can’t reach the results without taking each step.
Rosas (10-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) admits that his ambitions may have earned his best in the past. And although he’s only 20 years old, he’ll enter the UFC on Saturday at the ESPN 64 Bantamweight Matsup with Vince Morales (11-9 MMA, 3-7 UFC) at the arena CDMX in Mexico City (ESPN2, ESPN+).
“I’m just focusing on my path, all my battles,” Rosas told MMA Junkie at UFC on Wednesday on ESPN 64 Media Day. “I just want to get that belt, so whatever I need to get there, I’m ready to do it.”
Before booking against Morales on Saturday, Rosace was temporarily linked to a fight with Rob Font in Seattle in February. He said he was offered the opportunity to intervene as Dominic Cruz’s replacement, but Rosas said he had a personal commitment that would prevent him from building weight.
Still, Rosas is motivated by knowing that UFC Brass already thinks it’s worth booking for someone like the font he’s ranked for years. Ultimately, it aims to defeat Morales and get back to such a fight.
“That’s how I want it,” Rosas said. “If not, I still have time for my age. I will continue to fight anyone and eventually I will get there.”
