Real Madrid are in contact with a “special” Manchester City player over a move to Manchester City in 2026, with the Spanish giants potentially making a big splash.
Haaland’s amazing form continues on the Norwegian national team
Pep Guardiola’s side haven’t exactly been perfect this season, but Erling Haaland’s form has been amazing, with the 25-year-old being talked about as being in the best form of his life after last weekend’s 1-0 win away to Brentford.
“You can say that. I’ve never felt as good as I am right now. So I can say that. I think it’s important to prepare first, to prepare for the game. Physically I’m ready, but I have to be mentally ready as well.”
Now, Haaland has broken yet another record, following his hat-trick for Norway against Israel to become the fastest player in history to reach 50 goals at international level, reaching that milestone ahead of the likes of Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappé, among others.
There is probably no better player in the world than Haaland in his current form, and City are well aware that he will be an invaluable player for them for years to come.
According to Caught offsideReal Madrid have been in contact with Haaland’s agent about a move next year, with him potentially replacing Vinicius Junior, with the Brazilian potentially earning as much as £217m.
That said, City have been “clear” that they have no plans to sell the Norwegian and importantly the striker is “not forcing himself to leave the Etihad Stadium”.
Losing Haaland at this point in his career is unthinkable for City, given that he is unique in his position and has proven to be unstoppable when at his best. Guardiola knows better than anyone how important it is to retain his star attacker and praised him last month after his recent star performance.
“Erling has never let us down since his arrival. Erling has a commitment that is why he has a long-term contract. He is a special player.”
The only positive of Haaland’s departure is that City are in a very strong negotiating position. The striker’s contract does not expire until the summer of 2034, meaning City could command an incredible amount of money for his services.
However, there is not enough money to sell him, and barring a sudden change of heart from Haaland himself, it would be a huge surprise if a move to Madrid were to materialize in the near future.
He is constantly developing as a footballer and, frighteningly for defenders around the world, his prime may have just begun, with City hoping he becomes one of the best attacking players of all time, not just at the Etihad.
