According to Sky GermanyCarlo Ancelotti is set to vacate Real Madrid’s head coach position after the Copa Del Rey final, regardless of the outcome of his conflict with Arch Rivals Barcelona due to the trophy. The Spanish giant has already contacted Inaki Ibanez, the agent representing Bayer Lebakusen boss Zabi Alonso about the possibility that the former midfielder could take over the Italian tactician in the Santiago Bernabéu dugout.
However, there has been no contact between the two clubs yet. Alonso himself also refused to commit either way in a post-match press conference after Lebakusen pulled out 1-1 to St. Pauli on Sunday.
Real was already interested in Alonso a year ago, and Liverpool and Bayern Munich (the two clubs he wore as players) were also linked at the time. He then stayed at Bayarena, where Ancelotti continued his work, with Arne Slot and Vincent Company taking over at Anfield and Allianz Arena, respectively. Slots and Companies are currently on course to win league titles at their respective clubs, but in Madrid it appears that the change has happened after the Los Blancos struggled to eliminate the Champions League in the quarter-finals.
